Lourdes Institute for Wholistic Studies Hosts Open House November 1

Faculty and students available to answer questions with prospective students

CAMDEN, NJ—Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies is hosting an open house event on Thursday, November 1, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, located at 1600 Haddon Avenue, Camden.

In partnership with Camden County College, Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies, a division of Lourdes Health System, is the only school in the South Jersey region to offer an associate’s degree in Applied Science/Massage Therapy.

“At our open house event, prospective students will have an opportunity to meet faculty and interact with them on a one-on-one basis,” says Frank Pileggi, PhD, RHP, Dean, Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies. “We will also have current students at the event who provide seated chair massages and give reflexology and yoga demonstrations. The open house allows prospective students and family members to have questions answered by both faculty and current students.”

Eric Monzo, a student who pursued his associate’s degree in Massage Therapy at Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies, says he became interested in massage therapy as a patient.  He then attended an open house and, when the opportunity presented itself to go back to school, Monzo enrolled.

“At the open house, I talked extensively to students and faculty, and I realized, this is exactly what I am looking for,” said Monzo.  “I enjoyed the program. I’ve learned so much in a short time. The faculty are great. They all have diverse backgrounds, are experienced and passionate about holistic medicine, and they take a real, personal interest in students. I was very impressed with how much faculty want students to learn and succeed. The program provides you with everything you need for a successful career in holistic medicine.”

Lourdes Institute for Wholistic Studies offers a flexible class schedule to meet students’ needs. Areas of study include:

  • Massage Therapy Certificate with Associates Degree in Applied Science (in partnership with Camden County College)
  • Massage Therapy Certificate of Achievement (in partnership with Camden County College)
  • Wholistic Massage Practitioner Certificate
  • Reflexology Certificate
  • 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training
  • 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training
  • Continuing Education Courses, — from sports massage and pregnancy/infant massage, to yoga and reflexology

Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies has had a strong partnership with Camden County College since 2000. “Thanks to our partnership and how we’ve designed the program, students no longer have to take time off from traditional school to get a certificate,” says Dr. Pileggi. “By earning an associate’s degree at the Lourdes Institute for Wholistic Studies, you don’t lose all that valuable time—you can get your degree and certificate, and then if you wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree in health-related field, you can then transfer those credits.”

Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies has been continually ranked among the top schools in the nation according to the national accreditation of board exams.

Dr. Pileggi urges those interested in wholistic studies to attend the event. He added, “The open house is a great educational tool in finding out more about our program, our faculty and how we can help prospective students launch a wholistic studies-focused career.”

Financial aid options are available for prospective students looking to earn a Massage Therapy Certificate with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science, or a Massage Therapy Certificate of Achievement.
